She loved watching him sleep.
He didn’t sleep often so it was rare when she got to watch him.
At the moment she was entertaining herself with observing her partner’s slumber.
The blue haired Akatsuki member sighed. Pein was always so different when he slept.
His auburn eyebrows which were always drawn together in concern over something or another were gentle arcs rising up his pale forehead, as if whatever he was thinking about was quite interesting.
The female Akatsuki partner let her blue eyes rove over Pein’s unusually relaxed-looking face. Whenever he was awake it was tense and tight as he solemnly conversed with her or Madara.
Suddenly a corner of his mouth turned up and she had to keep herself from gasping and waking him up.
But...he smiled!
She wondered desperately what he had been dreaming about so fondly that it had made him smile.
She closed her eyes in exasperation, knowing she would never find out. He would never tell her.
The rustling noise in front of her made the s-rank nin snap open her eyes. “Pein...”
“Watching me sleep again?” He asked drowsily, not quite awake yet as he fingered one of the many studs along the bridge of his nose.
She didn’t answer as he stood and brushed himself off. She squinted at up at him from her kneeling position, through icy blue slits.
“Pein...what made you smile?”
The spiky haired Akatsuki leader froze a moment before turning to his female partner, his mouth set in a line, his face as serious as ever. “Hnn. My dream did, I guess.”
Her frown deepened and he sighed and bent over her.
The blue haired woman began blinking rapidly as Pein dipped his head and allowed his lips to find hers.
She closed her eyes tightly and kissed him back deeply.
After a while he broke away.
“Your flower’s falling out,” he murmured, a hand reaching for the crooked white accessory, placing it back in it’s original place.
She nodded her thanks before speaking. “Pein...what was that?”
He blinked his peculiar eyes at her before turning his mouth up into the same smile he had done while he’d been sleeping.
Almost shocking his blue haired comrade into a heart attack he replied. “That was in my dream.”
And then his face was back to the tight and tense, eyebrow drawn together, solemn and serious expression.
But she knew he had smiled. And that one smile, that one kiss...it was all hers.
